Ecovative合伙创始人Gavin McIntyre解释道,“菌丝体本质上是真菌,即蘑菇在地下看不见的那部分,看上去就像白色的细线组成的网。菌丝长成的材料可以防水防火,同时具有强大的粘性,建筑师DavidBenjamin就是凭仗蘑菇的气力在2015年的pS1比赛中成功逆袭,赢得了青年建筑师计划的第一名。他的作品用蘑菇做砖,配合了尖端的机器人砌砖技术,让这个临时建筑环保地回归自然。

You may feel awful if mushrooms grow in your house. But how about a house“growing”from mushrooms? Gavin McIntyre co-founder of Ecovative said that mycelium is fungus in essence; it is an underground part of mushroom and looks like a net constituted of white strings. Materials developing from mycelia are adhesive with a resistance to water and fire. It is such miracle that helped an architect called David Benjamin win the pS1 competition. He used mushroom bricks piled by robots to create a unique environmental building (picture below).

Jae Rhim Lee is another lecturer of Ted Talk in which she shared her innovation in 2011: mushroom grave clothes to eliminate toxins of corpse. In order to further understand how fungi break down toxins she experimented with different mushrooms and even her hair skin and nails. Finally clothes made of spores were born! They are the last dresses for the dead decomposing them into natural elements.
